Long back, Nandi Award Committees were trolled for announcing awards for merely undeserved films and film personnel. Caste politics and corruption would play instrumental role behind the selection of awards. Young producers like Bunny Vas initiated to a rebellion against the direct involvement of the TDP government and hero Balakrishna for adjudging awards to their close aides. Way back, a senior top hero's brother named 'Aadi' (name chopped off) held various positions in Nandi Jury and would confer 'Best Actor' awards to the senior hero's son.

Since Nandi Awards turned out to be a laughing stock, the governments of both the Telugu states imposed an unofficial ban on Nandi awards. Thus, people heaved a sigh of relief with the ban of biased Nandi awards.

And now, National Award Juries have taken the cue from Nandi awards. A few years ago, Mega Power Star Ram Charan was supposed to bag National award for his performance in Rangasthalam. But then, he missed the award due to a senior jealous producer who ensured his film would get a couple of national awards.

National awards jury again turned a laughing stock for trollers for conferring two awards to Maharshi. In fact, Maharshi is a pretty decent film which offered an appealing message to the youth. But then, movie lovers have become clueless, how the film was given best choreography award as the dances in the film were pretty ordinary. Moreover, Telugu audience are aware of the dancing skills of the protagonists.

Maharshi was also adjudged an award in the best popular regional films category. But then, Megastar Chiranjeevi's 'Sye Raa' stood as the best popular film standing out the highest grossing film of Telugu states in 2019. Maharshi was the third biggest earner next to Sye Raa and Saaho in Telugu states.

Altogether, movie lovers are demanding the union government to impose a ban on national awards so as not to be trolled for announcing awards for undeserved films.
