Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna received an unexpected jolt from Hindupur voters. Balakrishna, who was elected as an MLA from Hindupur constituency in 2014 and 2019, stayed at Hindupur for four days to campaign for the party's victory in the municipal elections.
Balakrishna campaigned in every nook and cranny of Hindupur municipality seeking the votes for the TDP. But then, people, here, offered him a bigger result. According to the reports, the YSRCP won 29 wards while the TDP confined to 6 wards.
Since the TDP faced no defeat in Hindupur for three decades, Hindupur is considered to be the fort of the TDP. Certainly, defeat in Hindupur municipality is a major setback to Balakrishna.
