Success invites a lot of stereotypes and it didn’t help Nandita Swetha that her very first Telugu film Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada was a horror-comedy. She earned immense credibility for her performance but also got a slew of horror films coming her way henceforth. Prema Katha Chitram 2, Abhinetri 2 got her typecast in the genre, but the experiences in the films left her bitter and she stayed away from horror.

“After a point, I got tired of it; the horror genre also began affecting me psychologically. I consciously began looking for other genres,” she talked about doing one horror film after the other in a recent conversation with a daily. The actress’ whose Kapatadhaari opened to a tepid response in the previous week, is awaiting the release of Akshara this weekend. Nandita had signed Akshara a couple of years ago and the filming was wrapped up many months before the pandemic had set in.

The makers surprisingly waited through the lockdown phase to get a theatrical release for Akshara. The film revolves around the education sector being looked at like a business and the difficulties that the students have to face, as a result. Nandita, after Akshara, is looking forward to the release of IPC 376 where she plays a cop.
