The multi-lingual action entertainer Chakra, featuring Vishal, Shraddha Srinath and Regina in pivotal roles, has been in the news for the wrong reasons for many months. The trouble for the film has largely been due to the legal tussle between the production house Trident Arts and Vishal over the clearance of dues relating to the commercial failure of the actor’s earlier film Action (which was produced by Trident).
Trident Arts had sought a ban on Chakra’s release this weekend which the court had agreed to, but reportedly actor Vishal has agreed to resolve the matter and do the needful. Chakra will now be making it to the screens across the globe tomorrow. The court has asked Vishal to pay the needed amount to Trident Arts to make up for the losses incurred by Action. Additionally, Vishal will also have to present the box office report of Chakra to the court.
Chakra was very close to having a direct OTT release many months ago. However, Trident Arts didn’t let the deal move forward due to the same issue. Additionally, the theatres also were given permissions to open in some time. All’s well that ends well. Chakra, directed by Anandan, will release in all the four South Indian languages on February 19.
