Vijay Sethupathi is undoubtedly the one the finest artistes the South industry. Although not popular in Bollywood circles, he is familiar with Hindi belt audiences too, thanks to dubbed movies such as Vikram Vedha among others.
Telugu audience grew familiarity with Sye Raa and Master film. Sethupathi is seen as Rayanam in the much talked about Uppena which is set for grand release on Februray 12. He plays as antagonist wherein he essays the father of heroine.
The trailer saw Sethuptahi’s mind boggling screen presence and mouthing powerful dialogues. While his character was hailed but the dubbing drew mixed response. A section of audience felt that Sethupathi could himself have given the voice. Ending the suspense as to why Sethupathi didn’t dub, director Buchi Babu Sana also shared a funny anecdote behind the dubbed voice.
Sethupathi Didn’t Dub For This Reason
Buchi Babu Sana revealed that Sethupathi himself felt that his voice won’t suit for Rayanam. They then went for Bommali Ravi Shankar who dubbed for Vijay Sethupathi. Sharing the funny anecdote behind the dubbing process, Uppena director revealed that generally Ravi Sankar takes less than a day to dub, but for this film he took three days to complete.
“Ravi Sankar found the character tough and intense. He planned to fly back to Bengaluru the same day, but stayed back as he found the character intense,” said Buchi Babu Sana.
