Child artiste-turned-leading actor Silambarasan a.k.a Simbu started his career on a promising note with several hits in Tamil including Manmadhan, Kovil, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. At a point of time, he had a good market in Telugu films too, but his career nearly hit a dead end with regular reports of his unprofessionalism and when his personal life made headlines for the wrong reasons. Looks like Simbu is now beyond all of that and is committed about letting work do the talking.

While Simbu’s 2021 release Easwaran earned mixed reports, the actor has invested all his energies in director Venkat Prabhu’s film Maanadu, dubbed as Rewind in Telugu. The political thriller is being marketed as a multi-lingual releasing in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages. Simbu plays the role of Abdul Khaaliq in Rewind, whose teaser was released on Wednesday. The actor looks extremely fit in his new, chiselled avatar sporting a stylish beard in a film that promises to have quite a bit of action, political drama and suspense. Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the leading lady in the same, while director-turned-actor S J Suryah is the antagonist.

Tipped as Simbu’s comeback film, the project faced multiple delays in the last couple of years, but it looks like the roadblocks haven’t affected the quality of the result. Most Tamil actors are keen on building a strong market in the Telugu land and Rewind appears to be the right choice for Simbu at this phase of his career. The film has an ensemble cast and also comprises the likes of Bharathiraja, S A Chandrasekhar, comedy actor Karunakaran in key roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director of the film that’s expected to release in the early half of 2021.
