Directors and producers always find themselves in the soup when heroines do not attend the film's promotional events. Clamor has been increasing to penalize heroines who skip the promotional events.

The question is whether penalizing heroines is the need of the hour.  This is because heroines promoting films is important as the industry is now facing existential crisis due to corona virus. But Shruti Haasan recently skipped the promotions of her latest film Krack. Earlier heroines like Nayanthhara, Pooja Hegde, Kiara Advani, Kajal Agarwal, Anjali, Trisha and Keethy Suresh Skipped the promotions of their respective films.

Director Teja known for his tough views says heroines are doing it unintentionally and points out how Kajal promoted Nene Raju Nene Mantri but couldn't promote Sita due to other commitments. Teja said heroines who promote films during interviews are skipping the promotional events and they feel that the films are mostly hero centric. He said he is very against penalizing heroines like Kollywood which slashes 10-20% of their remuneration.

Teja points out that the life span of a heroine is very less and they are paid peanuts compared to male actors. But some say heroines are promoting films selectively like Pooja Hegde promoting Ala Vaikunthapurramloo and missing Gaddalakonda Ganesh events. Actresses like Nayanthara, Pooja Hegde, Kiara Advani, Kajal Agarwal and Keethy Suresh who are paid between 1.5 crore and `3 crore per film are choosy about promoting their films.

Producer Vishnuvardhan Induri says everything boils down to the mutual agreement and terms and conditions between a producer and the actress. He said he faced no problems with Vidya Balan who promoted NTR biopic and Kangana Ranaut with whom he is doing Thalaivi.  He however adds promotions are crucial for films.
