RRR Beauty Lands In Legal Trouble

Alia Bhatt known for her talented and exhilarating performances is currently starting in high profile projects. Apart from starring in films like Brahmastra and a biopic on female don Gangubhai Kathaiwadi, she is making her grand Tollywood entry with RRR multi starrer under the direction of SS Rajamouli.

In the meantime, Alia Bhatt landed in legal trouble. Babuji Rawji Shah, son of Gangubhai, filed a case against the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Alia Bhatt and writer Hussain Zaidi, on whose novel The Mafia Queens of Mumbai the film is based, and reporter Jane Borges, whose research was the premise of the book.

He alleged some portions of the book and research are defamatory and infringed on the right to privacy, self-respect and liberty. He demanded a permanent ban on the novel and deletion of chapters on Gangubhai and stoppage of the film production. Babuji's lawyer even threatened of criminal complaint about defaming a woman.

Bombay High Court which heard the case asked the makers to respond by Jan 7, 2021.
