Cricketer Raina, Singer Held

In a major news, cricketer Suresh Raina and noted singer Guru Randhawa were arrested in a raid at a pub in Mumbai. According to reports, the cricketer and the singer were among 34 people who were partying late night till morning 2:30am at Dragonfly club violating the Covid norms.

Club Flouted Norms

The cops have booked the 34 under IPC section including 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life).

The club operated beyond the permissible time which is 11:30 pm. But the club continued to remain open till 4am. The officials also found people flouting Covid norms by not wearing masks and refraining from social distancing.

Night Curfew In Maharashtra

In the wake of new Covid strain in United Kingdom, Maharashtra government imposed night curfew since December 21 to January 5 from 11pm to 6am.
