Telugu Scientist In US Discovers Possible Covid Cure

Dr Thirumala Devi Kanneganti, a Telugu scientist settled in the US, has discovered a potential cure to stop the fatal Covid deaths. Kanneganti holds the position of vice-chair of St Jude Immunology. Her research work on possible Covid death cure has been published in the journal, Cell.

The research work identified that the main cause behind the death of Covid patients was inflammation which resulted in lung damage and organ failure. The scientist along with her team discovered the possible drug after initial trial on mice which showed that the “hyper-inflammatory immune response associated with Covid-19 leads to tissue damage and multi-organ failure by triggering inflammatory cell death pathways”.

Kanneganti did her under-graduation in Zoology, Botany and Chemistry at Kakatiya University, Warangal. She then went on to do her Master’s and PhD in microbiology and immunology from Osmania University.
