It seems Andhra Pradesh's State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is resorting to a futile attempt with his latest decision. Nimmagadda has decided to conduct local body polls in the state in the month of February, 2021.
And an unofficial announcement, in this regard, has been made and Nimmagada got the appointment from state's governor on Wednesday to discuss the issue.
The ruling YSRCP, however, is reluctant to go for elections during the tenure of Nimmagadda. The YCP top brass alleged that Nimmagadda had been a staunch supporter of the TDP on caste grounds. "Both the TDP and Nimmagadda are supported by a dark dress group in Amaravati," alleges a YCP activist.
It's heard that Nimmagadda would retire in the month of March, 2021. YCP wants to go for local body polls after the retirement of Nimmagadda. "It would be better for YSRCP to go for local body polls under the supervision of a golden leg instead of an iron leg," suggested a YCP worker. It remains to be seen how well the political events in the state take more turns.
