Revolutionary films always have a special place in Tollywood. Films like Maa Bhoomi, Yuvataram Kadilindi, Erra Sainyam, Osey Ramulamma, Sri Ramulayya etc. shook the box office. At one point of time, those films turned out to be top commercial grossers. But later they disappeared from the silver screen.

Though now and then such films came, with top stars not showing interest in starring in those genre films, they did not get recognition. But it seems top stars themselves are showing interest to turn revolutionaries and show their power on the silver screen.

People’s Star Narayana Murthy got an immense craze for such genre films. Though earlier many producers and directors came up with such films, thanks to Narayana Murthy, revolutionary films gained recognition. Though small films like Dalam, Virodhi and George Reddy came, top stars did not venture into this genre.

Top directors like Trivikram Srinivas with Jalsa, Krish with Gamyam tried to touch that genre. Now top stars like Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, NTR and Rana are getting ready to show the power of revolutionary films. Chiranjeevi is starring in Acharya under the direction of Koratala Siva. The film is all about the story of a comrade who tried to restore the traditions at Dharmasthali. In the film Ram Charan will be seen as a former naxalite.

Venu Udugula got good recognition with his debut film Needi Naadi Oke Katha. He is showing a naxalism backdrop in his second film Virataparvam. The film stars Rana, Sai Pallavi, Priyamani, Nandita Das. Buzz is Rana and Priyamani will be seen as naxals in the film.

Even in Rajamouli’s RRR multi starrer with Ram Charan and NTR, they too fight against the atrocities against the people. However NTR and Ram Charan are playing the roles of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetha Rama Raju.
