Nani’s V disappoints the leading Ott player Amazon Prime Video big time. They expected the film to recover all the investment in the form on new subscribers. But, the film neither impressed movie buffs nor it brought any new subscribers for Amazon. The unexpected result made Amazon to think twice before acquiring Ott rights of big ticket films.

As per a grapevine, Amazon and few other Ott players are mulling over the idea of implementing pay per view model. Given, they couldn’t gain anything and moreover incurred losses with huge investment on few recent outings; they are looking for best options, including pay per view model.

But, this sounds a bad idea, as pay per view is not a workable model for producers. People are ready for one time investment for subscription fee in a year, but are not keen to pay for every film they watch on Ott platforms.

They are watching films as they are available at free of cost. ATT is a botched up experiment as paying to watch films on small screen didn’t convince audience of Telugu or other languages.

On the other hand, pay per view model will not work out for small to medium range films. And, stars are not ready to release their films on Ott platforms.

Rather opting for unworkable strategies, Otts should come up with feasible schemes.
