Is it safe to release films on digital platforms or filmmakers should wait till the Theaters to re-open? Considering various factors like additional burden with interests every month and uncertain over Theaters re-opening, few filmmakers opted for OTT release.
However, analysts opine that, OTTs are killing the joy of movie watching experience. In fact, nothing can beat when it comes to the amazing experience of watching films in Theaters. Irrespective of how many new technologies come, audience will take utmost pleasure in watching films in Theaters.
Watching films with friends or family on big screen with DTS or Dolby sound system on and with the hungama of fans for whistle-worthy scenes, we travel with the story and connect with characters or emotions. When it comes to OTT, movie buffs are unable to enjoy the movie watching experience to the fullest.
Since it is giving the option of forwarding or back-warding, they are completing watching films in quick time. And for various reasons, films are mostly getting negative feedback. “The opinion might be somehow different, if they watch films in Theaters,” opine a trade analyst.
More importantly, the audiences are missing the pre-release hungama which indeed helps hiking expectations on films. With no proper promotions, few don’t even know when films are hitting OTT platforms.
For now, producers don’t have other alternative other than going for OTT release. But, once Theaters will re-open, of course after vaccine for corona comes, people will throng to Theaters to watch their favourite star films. Hope, the day comes very soon!
