Film industry suffered losses amounting to crores due to corona virus. For more than four months theatres and multiplexes remained shut. This is resulting in theatre owners and exhibitors suffering huge losses. It is not clear when the theatres will open with coronavirus cases increasing. Even if opened in the future, the revenue generation will be very less.
So, theatre owners and exhibitors have already started discussing on how to minimize the losses. As a part of it, they are planning to convince the government to give consent for the imposition of parking fees.
It is known that the Government passed an order against the collection of parking fees at hospitals, commercial complexes, malls and film theatres. This is being followed strictly. But the theatre owners are trying to recover a few of the losses by going back to the old method.
When parking fees was removed, theatre owners and exhibitors requested the government authorities of coming with fixed parking fees as removal of parking fees resulted in lack of security to the vehicles of the people. They also held discussions of imposition of the same penalty for theatres collecting high parking fees and theatres collecting low parking fees. It has to be seen how the government will respond to their request.
