Andhra Pradesh senior BJP leader and former minister Manikyala Rao has breathed his last today due to coronavirus. He was admitted to Eluru Covid Hospital 20 days ago. He was later rushed to a private hospital in Vijayawada a week ago when he complained of breathing problem.
Manikyala Rao was treated on a ventilator for a few days as his health was deteriorating. He passed away afternoon today as the situation worsened. Manikyala Rao's funeral will be conducted as per Covid rules.
In 2014, Manikyala Rao contested for the first time as an MLA from Thadepalligudem and he won the election. From 2014 to 2018, he served as endowments minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s regime.
Last month, Manikyala Rao posted a video to announce that he had contracted the virus from one of his friends.
