Gunjan Saxena Trailer Review: Inspiring Story

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is the next big film going to hit the OTT space. A biographical film of the first Indian female airforce pilot in war, Jhanvi Kapoor plays the titular role alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi in supporting roles. The film will be releasing on August 12th as Independence Day special on Netflix.

Today, Gunjan Saxena is released. The trailer introduces its main cast and how a physically fragile girl with passion for flying ended up flying rescue and recce missions for the Indian Air Force during the Kargil War, and this was long before female pilots were commissioned by the IAF and it is not easy as she is reminded at every point that she is a woman and weak because of it.

Jhanvi Kapoor seems to have undergone rigorous training to portray the challenging role and she pulled it with perfection. Director Sharan Sharma rightly portrayed the struggles the protagonist underwent to achieve her goal. The way she is shown weak every time, makes us feel sympathetic towards the character. But, this is the real and inspiring story of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena, who made history when she became the first Indian women in combat during the Kargil War.
