Ever since the spread of coronavirus pandemic, all the business establishments have been closed due to lockdown. The film industry faced the brunt of it and many lives got affected due to the stalling of shootings, postponement of releases, and closure of theatres.
Now the good news is on the way as the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry finally recommended the central government to reopen theatres across the country from August.
I & B Secretary Amit Khare during his closed-door interaction with the CII Media Committee told the same to his opposite number in the home ministry Ajay Bhalla. Amit Khare said he recommended theatres may be allowed to reopen across the country either on Aug 1 or around Aug 31.
He suggested a formula that alternate seats in the first row and next row to be kept vacant and proceed with the same. Khare said his ministry took into consideration the two-meter social distancing norm but gently tweaked into two yards.
Ajay Bhalla informed that they will assess the COVID situation in the country before taking the final decision.
