Pay per view is still a new method for movie watching in India. Trade pundits suggest it’s a bad idea to release films on pay per view model on OTT or ATT. Under these circumstances, maverick director Ram Gopal Varma announced Power Star’s will be world’s first paid trailer. Those who want to watch the trailer should pay Rs 25.
Continuing his mark of publicity, RGV now suggests SS Rajamouli to release trailer of RRR starring NTR, Ram Charan at a price of 150 or 200. He opines, the trailer alone will recover complete investment. Here are series of tweets from RGV:
“It is common sense anybody will pay to see trailer of most awaited film @ssrajamouli ‘s #RRR ..All people who saw Bahubali 2 will pay and see #RRR trailer and film will make profits only with trailer.
Old thinking is that a trailer will sell the film ..But in his case @ssrajamouli ‘s track record is his trailer and his #RRR trailer is as much awaited as his full film and hence as much valuable as full film.
Considering his track record whether it is just the trailer of #RRR or just a 10 minute short film
@ssrajamouli makes , for many people online it will be as tempting as BAHUBALI and they will pay the same price as a multiplex ticket.
Hey @ssrajamouli in the context that the whole world shifted online that is the actual real market place and these NEW TIMES need NEW THINKING. we are all waiting to pay and see #RRR trailer.”
RGV is somehow correct that people are ready to pay Rs 200 to watch trailer of RRR. And at the same time they also opine that investing anything on RGV’s film is waste of money. “We are ready to watch RRR trailer for 200. But, we don’t want to waste single rupee on RGV’s masterpiece Power Star,” says a movie buff.
