Central Government announced to extend lockdown by another two weeks, but with significant easing of curbs intended to reopen the country and restart economic activity even in the red zones, leaving only containment areas under strict restrictions.
Most industry bodies and exporters expressed relief at the broad relaxations announced by the government, but reiterated their demand that the government bring out a stimulus package to help distressed segments of the economy. Industries have also cheered the government’s move to allow the movement of individuals and vehicles with restrictions for permitted sectors.
While the Centre has said the relaxations will be subject to clearances from state governments and local authorities, it strictly bars them from providing further relaxations.
Now, all eyes are on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who will address the state, after concluding cabinet meeting on 5th of this month.
Many wonder whether Kcr will follow the same norms for lockdown 3.0 in the state or come up with his own plans. Already people are vexed with so many restrictions and they somehow are relieved with center’s announcement of easing restrictions in almost all the zones.
Of course, Kcr is one of the firsts in recommending extension of lockdown. But, it’s high time, he should allow relaxations to the sectors announced by center. Moreover, the lockdown is turning expensive affair for state and central governments. “Further extension of lockdown with same restrictions will lead to many hunger deaths than the corona deaths,” warn exerts and analysts.
In another three days, we will get clarity on the same. But, Telanganites are hoping for the best!
