Nag Ashwin created a sensation with Mahanati. The film, a biopic on yesteryear legendary actress Savitri, went on to win many accolades and awards from the film analysts and movie lovers alike.
The stellar performances from Keerthy Suresh and others, the story, screenplay, and direction by Nag Ashwin taught everyone how to make a biopic in an effective and powerful manner.
While Nag Ashwin won the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu at the 66th Filmfare Awards South, Keerthy Suresh won the National Film Award for Best Actress for portraying actress Savitri.
None can forget the evergreen classic Mr India in Bollywood. Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Amrish Puri starrer directed by Sekhar Kapoor created a sensation in the 80s. Buzz is Ranveer Singh and Shah Rukh Khan would be starring in the roles of Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri and Sultan director Ali Abbas Jaffar would be directing the remake to be made as a trilogy.
Already fans are trolling the makers for the remake and asked them to stay away from it rather than spoil the classic. Sekhar Kapoor who came to know about it said “No one has even asked me or mentioned to me about this film called Mr. India 2. I can only guess that they using the title to get a big weekend. For they cannot use the characters/story without permission from the original creators of the film.”
Even Mahanati director Nag Ashwin came with a strong advice saying, "Completely ridiculous Pouting face there should be some respect for classics...and even if you want to reboot it, it should be a sacred process with all the original players involved...and a worthy team leading it...this just sounds like a greedy bad idea..."
The question is will Bollywood makers heed to Nag Ashwin’s advice!
