Chiru Reveals Romantic Journey With Surekha

Chiranjeevi and his wife Surekha celebrated Ruby jubilee's wedding anniversary (40 years) and on the occasion shared their romantic secrets.

Chiru recollecting the journey said: “You are referring to the day when I became the scapegoat. When I was traveling in my car over Kodambakkam Bridge, Chennai, I found my B.Com classmate Satyanarayana. He told me that he came to his uncle's house and I offered him to drop him there. His uncle was none other than Allu Ramalingaiah. Already by that time, my three films got released. He invited me inside the house saying Allu Ramalingaiah acted with you in Manavuri Pandavulu. At that time Allu Ramalingaiah was not there but I was offered coffee. The coffee was prepared by Surekha. Both of us did not see each other. Later she asked my friend 'who is that guy'. He told me that he acted in Manavuri Pandavulu. She asked 'Vallu Emitlata.. Manitlenata?".

Later Allu Ramalingaiah and his family members had a discussion about me. Allu Ramalingiah dreamed of marrying his daughter to an IAS officer. However, Aravind started an inquiry about me saying there is nothing wrong in trying. My friends gave a good certificate saying 'He is a hanuman devotee, has no bad habits, well educated, hard worker and has few good films'. I was against marriage at that time. Makeup man Jayakrishna, producer of Mana Voori Pandavulu is close to Allu Ramalingaiah. He convinced him (Allu Ramalingaiah) and before giving a green signal he got feedback about me from over ten producers who gave him good feedback. I told him bluntly that my age does not suit for marriage. But my father might have got scared with Jayakrishna who might have told him that I may get attracted to other girls and so at once told them that he will convince me. Though I was reluctant to go to see the girl, they forcibly took me to their house"

Surekha: I thought the guy with these eyes looks good after watching Mana Voori pandavulu. Since my mother married an actor, I thought it will be good if I marry an actor and so I gave a green signal.

Chiranjeevi: During the talks, elders asked both of us to talk and they left the place. Though I knew that she did BA, since I have to ask something, I asked her what she studied. Later I was left searching for words as I do not have any girls as friends. After seeing Surekha's nature, I decided to marry her. My mother and father too liked her.

Chiru: There was a gap of three months for marriage. At that time there was an impression that going out before marriage was wrong. Once I felt like talking to her, and when I called the landline, she received and when I told 'Hello I am Chiranjeevi'. She said 'I am Surekha. Whom do you want me to give the phone'. My ego got hurt as she did not even talk two words and asking such a question, I asked ' Is your brother there'. She told 'No' then I asked her to inform him to call me back.

Surekha: Since he used to talk with my brother about marriage dates, I thought he called for the same. I never thought that he called for me.

Chiru:' Forget about Honeymoon. I didn't get time for marriage. We planned to get married in February. During that time I was doing 'Tatayya Prema Leelalu'. MS Reddy was producing the film. I am having scenes with Nootan Prasad. Reddy said 'He is a busy artist. Won't get dates. You get married in May". I told him 'If you are ok I will get married in February or later'. MS Reddy did not agree for a hero to get married in between the film shoot, unlike other producers. Allu Aravind told him 'I will get your dates once again. Do not fear about the combination. I am also in the industry. We are taking Chiranjeevi'. Thus we got married in February.
