Sye Raa Effect: Small Task Looks Big

Generally, when star heroes films hit the screens, filmmakers of small to medium range films don’t dare to release their films as it will be a suicidal if they commit that blunder. However, sometimes, like for festival seasons and summer holidays, they will dare to combat with high budget entertainers.

Likewise, Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s highly anticipated film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy will not have solo release. The other Telugu films releasing alongside the Surender Reddy directorial are Gopichand’s Chanakya and Naveen Krishna’s Oorantha Anukuntunnaru.

Chanakya will have one advantage that, those who don’t get tickets for Sye Raa may prefer to watch the Gopichand starrer. However, there’s no buzz for Oorantha Anukuntunnaru. In fact, promotions are pretty weak for the film.

Directed by Thiru, Chanakya is made of high budget. Makers of the film took a brave decision of releasing the film opposite the giant venture like Sye Raa. The film needs to recover something around Rs 12 Cr for breakeven.

While Nizam rights were sold for Rs 3.5 Crores, the Andhra and Ceded rights fetched its makers Rs 7 Cr. Overall, the worldwide theatrical rights valued around Rs 11.75 Crores.

Firstly, Chanakya may not get good number of theaters and secondly even the small task appears big considering the fact that film is competing with Sye Raa.
