Director is considered as the captain of the ship and he or she should extract the optimum from the cast and crew. But at times even directors are turning actors and showing their talent. Earlier Dasari Narayana Rao, K.Vishwanath, Kodi Ramakrishna showed their acting talent on screen.
Of late some directors are surprising all by starring as heroes. VV Vinayak who is known as mass director appeared as Chiranjeevi's close aide in Tagore. Now he is turning full length hero in a film produced by Dil Raju. He even shed weight and changed his hairstyle.
Sukumar's next did not take off after Rangasthalam. However he appeared in cameos in Gang Leader and Gaddalakonda Ganesh. Krish too is known for his penchant for acting. He starred in Gamyam, Vedam and also played the role of KV Reddy in Mahanati. He also appeared in a song 'Nuvvu Turum Raa' praising Ram in iSmart Shankar.
Rajamouli too appeared in almost all his films- be it Sye or Baahubali. In Nani's Majnu, he appeared in his own role as Rajamouli. Boyapati Srinu has different style. All his films take off only after he says Babu Ready Babu and Action. Maruthi too appeared in Kathanam.
Avasarala Srinivas, Ravi Babu and others are balancing both direction and acting. Tharun Bhaskar who came with a hit like Pelli Choopulu is now turning hero with his film Meeku Maatrame Cheputa. He earlier appeared as a cop in Falaknuma Das. Vishwaksen who played the lead role too is the director. For Kausala Krishnamurty, Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao played the negative role.
