Rana Behind Lankan's Biopic

It seems the Indian film industry is on a spree making biographical films on cricketing legends. Following movies on MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, and now the Ranveer Singh starrer Kapil Dev biopic 83, a new biographical sports drama on the life of Sri Lankan legend and right-arm spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is in the pipeline. The actor who is stepping into the shoes of this former cricketer is talented Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi.

Latest update is Tollywood handsome hunk Rana Daggubati came on board to bankroll the project under Suresh Productions Banner. He will collaborate with Mumbai based production and distribution company AR Motion Pictures to produce this film which is likely to go on floors from December, this year.

Of late, Rana is focusing on film production, besides doing lead roles in films in various languages. However, for the first time, he is investing in a high budget film.

Written and directed by MS Sripathy, the film is expected to be titled 800, after number of wickets the former cricketer has taken in Tests, the most in history by any bowler.
