Unlike Bollywood, where stars do not have any titles before their names, South stars have powerful tags to enhance their stardom. What surprises all is even upcoming actors have prefix in front of their names.
While fans love the title of Mega Star, Power Star, Mega Power Star, Stylish Star, Super Star, King, Young Tiger, Mega Prince, Akkineni Prince, Nava Yuva Samrat, Natural Star, Rocking Star. Rising Star etc, movie lovers often wonder whether they are doing justice for their roles.
This is in stark difference to the golden era of Tollywood. During those days none of the stars showed interest in those prefixes. NTR's Seetha Rama Kalyanam won national award in 1961. Kanchi Kamakoti Peethadhipathi, his Holiness Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi heaped praises on NTR's acting as Ravana and hailed him as 'Viswa Vikhyata Nata Sarwa Bhowma'.
Similarly, not fans but all sections of people hailed ANR as Nata Samrat, SVR as Viswanata Chakravarthi, Krishna as Super Star, Krishnam Raju as Rebel Star, Sobhan Babu as Nata Bhushana, Jaggaiah as Kanchu Kantham, Kanta Rao as Nata Prapoorna etc.
Right thinking people feel current generation stars should concentrate on entertaining movie lovers with their acting talent rather than capture their imagination with powerful prefixes in front of their names. Once they do so, people automatically hail them with their own prefixes.
