In the olden days, many filmmakers and stars used to come with extremely sentimental and emotional films which used to have sad and tragic endings.

Especially Nata Samrat ANR got branded as tragedy king for his powerful performances in films like Devadas, Laila Majnu, Anarkali, Batasari, Prem Nagar, Premabhishekam and Meghasandesam to name a few.

Even actors like NTR, Krishna, Krishnam Raju, Sobhan Babu starred in films which had tragic endings. Chiranjeevi too left all in tears with his performances in Rudraveena, Vijetha and Manchu Pallaki.

Nagarjuna starred in films like Geethanjali and Majnu and tried to recreate the image of his dad ANR. However, genex stars and filmmakers are shying away from making such films. None of the stars are keen to earn the tag of tragedy kings.

Even in historical entertainers, the makers are scared to have tragic endings. Some say movie lovers are expecting only entertainment irrespective of the genre and so they are rejecting films with tragic endings.

But analysts say, currently, none of the stars can come with powerful expressions and emotions akin to the yesteryear greats and even if they starred in emotional scenes, movie lovers used to feel they are enacting comedy scenes, thus becoming a laughing stock in front of all.

So the stars are scared to take the risk and the makers too do not have the talent to come with such powerful and emotional entertainers.
