First half of 2019 is ending on poor note for Tollywood with maximum of the films released this month have failed to amaze audience. In fact, after Maharshi, no other film got success status. This week, six direct Telugu films hit the screens out of which Naveen Polishetty’s Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya and Priyadarshi’s Mallesham won the applause of critics.
Although ASSA got average to good reviews, Mallesham received unanimous positive talk. ASSA has decent first weekend in Telugu states, wherein it minted good numbers in USA. The film collected $16K through premieres, 30K on Friday, $56K on Saturday and $41K on Sunday. Overall, the film collected $143K in its 1st weekend which is a good start for a small hero film.
However, Mallesham which was appreciated by one and all is not minting money at box office. The film is off to poor start in Telugu states and it is underperforming in USA as well. Mallesham collected $8K through premieres, 10K on Friday, $15.5K on Saturday and $11.5K on Sunday. Overall, the film collected $45K in its 1st weekend which is a poor opening.
The other releases like Manchu Vishnu’s Voter, First Rank Raju, Ajay’s Special and Stuartpuram are ending as flops.
