Critics Laud, Audience Abandon

What was the last film that did good business at box office? It’s super star Mahesh Babu’s 25th film Maharshi which will soon be completing its 50 days run. This is really sickening because no single film in recent times could gratify Telugu audience.

This week nearly seven films hit the screens, including a dubbed film Gajendrudu. But, all the focus was on two films- Mallesham and Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya. While Mallesham is a biopic of a Padma Shri Awardee Chintakindi Mallesham who invented the famous Asu Machine, ASSA is a detective thriller.

Interestingly, both the films won the appreciation of critics who gave good ratings. Nonetheless, Mallesham and ASSA failed to bring audience to theaters. While Priyadarshi starrer Mallesham is underperforming, the Naveen Polishetty starrer ASSA is raking decent numbers at box office. Trade analysts predict, both the films will further slowdown from tomorrow.

It is expected that, films like Mallesham will not have commercial applause. On the other hand, poor promotions and few other factors are killing the chances of ASSA which too is expected to end as a commercial failure.
