Power Star Pawan Kalyan, who chose not to contest the 2014 polls, joined hands with the Left parties and BSP to contest in 2019 general elections. All but one of the 138 candidates faced defeat as YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP swept the polls by sealing 151 out of the 175 seats in the Assembly.
Despite a massive campaign that saw heavy crowds cheering Pawan Kalyan could not win seats for his party, leaving his fans in huge disappointment. The party pinned hopes on securing at least 30-40 seats in the worst case scenario and anticipated a king-maker role for the party in the event of a hung-like situation. Pawan Kalyan himself was defeated in both Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram constituencies.
To pick up the morale of the upset cadre, Pawan asserted that his political journey will continue for a long time and he is committed to his promises despite his defeat. It is heard that the party is going to focus on constituting mandal-level and village-level committees to strengthen Janasena from the grassroots. Party seniors believe that a poor base at local levels affected the performance.
Meanwhile, Movie Artists Association President Naresh has announced to join Janasena Party. He in an interview said, “Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena Party is doing new age politics by not resorting to the cash politics. He promised not to indulge in cash distribution and he did what he promised. That’s why I personally like Pawan Kalyan. I will soon join Janasena Party and will lend my full support.”
Naresh also opined that true leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan should join hands with Pawan Kalyan to stop cash politics in the state. It is known that, Naresh got full support from mega family in MAA elections and he was elected as MAA President with their support.
