Many analysts and critics often accuse Indian filmmakers including Tollywood filmmakers of twisting history. They face immense criticism when they make films on freedom fighters or films involving historical characters.

Whenever they make films on Alluri Seetha Rama Raju, Veerapandya Kattbommana, Rana Pratap, Pruthvi Raj Chauhan, analysts and historians blast them for twisting history. Already Rajamouli is facing criticism for twisting history and tampering facts for his Rrr multi starrer with NTR and Ram Charan with regards to freedom fighters Alluri Seetha Rama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Similarly, the makers of Chiranjeevi's Sye Raa, a biopic on Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy too are facing the same problem. They accuse the makers of tampering and twisting history.

This triggers discussion as to what amounts to twisting history. Right thinking people are of the opinion that there is nothing wrong in glorifying our freedom fighters like Alluri Seetha Rama Raju, Komaram Bheem or kings like Shivaji, Pruthvi Raj Chauhan, Rana Pratap etc so that the current generation knows the great culture of our country.

They also say the same so-called pseudo historians find nothing wrong when one makes a film on Greek warrior Alexander hailing him as Great though the real fact is Aleander conquered just 3, 4 small Arab countries which are smaller than our Kerala state and got defeated at the hands of Indian ruler Porus or Purushottam. People say what we are reading is the adulterated history authored by the Britishers belittling and insulting Indians showing them as an incompetent lot.
