Hindupur has been the fort of TDP ever since the party was floated by late NTR in 1982.  NTR won from this constituency in the years 1985, 1989 and 1994. Harikrishna won in the year 1996. TDP contestants including Balakrishna won from this constituency in the years, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019. 

That's the story behind Hindupur constituency. Kuppam and Hindupur are the two constituencies which are considered the forts of TDP. Had CBN and Balayya contested from other constituencies they would have faced a defeat like Nara Lokesh.
