Tollywood: Success Meaning Changing

In the olden days, a film's success was decided by the number of days it got screened in the theatres. During that time one couldn't term the film a super hit unless it got screened for 50 days with houseful collections in theatres. When a film completes a year successfully in theatres at the box office, it was branded as an industry hit.

Now trend is changed and makers are content with the profits they make based on the openings. Forget about 50days, filmmakers are happy if their film gets screened for a month. This is not generalized as films like Rangasthalam, Mahanati, Geeta Govindam, F2 etc. proved that long run with successful collections is still possible with strong content.

But success meaning is changing drastically in the recent past. The moment makers see houseful collections in the first two shows on the first day, they are coming out with success meets in the evening and celebrating it bursting crackers claiming the best opening in the star’s career and blockbuster posters.

From then on starts relentless success meets, promotions, claims of hits, super hits and blockbusters for one week. This is not confined to one particular hero or a film. All the filmmakers, stars and directors are doing the same.

They are forgetting the common logic that it is common that halls get full on the first day and all the claims of hit talk based on that shows their insecurity complex. One need not be surprised if makers come with success meets right after the benefit show.
