Has Prince Mahesh Babu's Maharshi elevated the openings stamina of Power Star Pawan Kalyan? Looking into the first day collections and the US collections of Agnyathavasi and Maharshi, it is understood that Pawan Kalyan's openings stamina is much bigger than any other hero of Tollywood.
Agnyathavasi was released on 10 January, 2018. Pre Sankranthi is considered to be the deadly un-season of Tollywood. In spite of that setback, Agnyathavasi could mint Rs.26+ crores in Telugu states alone. In contrast, Maharshi hit the screens in the mid summer season which is said to be the best season for Tollywood films. Even then, Maharshi fell short of Rs.2 crores than Agnyathavasi on day one in Telugu states. Maharshi collected Rs.24+ crores share.
On the other hand, Agnyathavasi accumulated $1516K through its US premieres. Shockingly, Maharshi registered quite low number $511K through its premiere shows. The film is unlikely to breach Agnyathaavasi premiere shows collections in its first weekend run.
And last but not the least, Agnyyathavasi carried utter flop talk and poor ratings on day one. On the contrary, Maharshi generated positive talk and decent ratings.
What has gone wrong with a Mahesh Babu's film opening collections? Perhaps, Mahesh Babu needs to introspect on this area.
Barring the above analysis, Maharshi is doing good business with steady collections everywhere except in the USA.
