After thanking his Gabbar Singh Pawan Kalyan, he recollected, "I used to watch Pawan Kalyan's films in a crazy manner while studying in BHEL. I caned the first shot on Pawan Kalyan for Gabbar Singh on Dec 4th 2011. For the entire first week I forgot that I am the director of the film. What ever Pawan did, I just used to say ok in the first take. He himself used to remined him 'Shankar, saripotunda.. leda'."
Harish Shankar then revealed " When I announced Gabbar Singh, director Ram Gopal Varma came to Hyderabad. He questioned Dabangg is a super hit film in Bollywood. When you have the talent to write dialogues and scripts, what is the need to go for a remake? Apart from it, there will be huge expectations on Pawan Kalyan's film. Seems You are walking on fire?' I smiled and kept quite. I know that I am not doing a remake. It was not the time for me to argue with him. Later Rgv praised me after seeing the premier. I didnot think of showing Pawan Kalyan in a new manner in Gabbar Singh. By that time we missed old Pawan Kalyan. I planned to show Pawan Kalyan in the similar manner after Jalsa. I became fan of Pawan Kalyan after watching Pawan Kalyan's fight in white dress in Gokulamlo Seetha".
