Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi received mixed response from critics. However, the film makes strong impact on audience and growth of its collection on day two proves the same. While the film earned Rs 8.75 cr on day one, it collected more than double on day 2. Having earned Rs 18.10 Cr on Saturday, the two day tally reached Rs 26.85 Cr. The big Republic Day holiday has clearly helped Manikarnika fetch such a phenomenal number.
Meanwhile, the film is in the centre of a controversy. Krish, who was originally the solo director of Manikarnika, revealed in an interview that Kangana "wanted everything to herself" and took over the reins. She then "blatantly reduced" the length of her co-stars' parts.
Interestingly, Bollywood Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar came in support of the actor, though he hasn’t mentioned anything about Krish. “Dear #KanganaRanaut you are a #OneManArmy in life & also a #OneWomanShow in film #Manikarnika.Your Flawless performance is captivating intense, controlled, with sheer brilliance. You deserve all the accolades & awards for #Manikarnika, hands down,” tweeted Madhur.
Manikarnika also stars Atul Kulkarni, Jisshu Sengupta and Ankita Lokhande in important roles. As the name suggests, the film is based on the life of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and the role that she played in India’s freedom from the British rule.
