It was Sankranthi season, 2013. On one side, Victory Venkatesh and Prince Mahesh Babu's craziest multi-starrer Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu was onboard while on the other, Mega Power Star Ram Charan's mass entertainer Naayak' hit the screens.
Initially, it was thought Naayak couldn't sustain the heat of SVSC. However, those predictions were proved false. Both the films scored super hits at the box office. SVSC stood as a top grosser in Overseas then. But then, all areas of united AP and Karnataka was dominated by Naayak. According to Dil Raju's official reports, Naayak stood as the bigger grosser in Sankranthi then.
It was Sankranthi season, 2014. Once again, Ram Charan and Mahesh Babu locked horns with their films Yevadu and 1 Nenokkadine. It was a unanimous victory of Yevadu then. 1 Nenokkadine stood as a dud.
After a gap of four years, Ram Charan's movie is in Sankranthi race. His new film Vinaya Vidheya Rama is slated for January 11 release. This time, Ram Charan will compete with Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna's NTR, Venkatesh and Mega Prince Varun Tej's multi-starrer family drama F2 and Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth's Peta.
Mega fans are believing that Ram Charan would emerge as Sankranthi Simham for third time and would complete a hat-trick in Sankranthi season. "Saraina simham thagalanantha varakoo prathi vetagadoo magadey," an interesting dialogue from VVR mouthed by them.
