It is a big disappointment towards end of 2018, as most of the films released in last few weeks are ending as debacles at box office. A small time film Husharu is the only one that is providing profits to its producers.

Trade analysts predicted Varun Tej’s Antariksham and Sharwanand’s Padi Padi Leche Manasu would become successful. But, both the films disappointed movie buffs completely. Together, nearly 25 to 30 crores of investors’ money is at stake.

Padi Padi Leche Manasu made a worldwide pre release business of Rs 22.80 crore and the film has recovered nearly 7.3 crores so far. The film is running into deficits in many centers.

Expectations were quite encouraging on the film, though Sharwa and director Hanu Raghavapudi were in poor form. In fact, music and promotional videos of the film were well received.

As we know, Hanu is an expert in dealing romantic entertainers. Though first half of the film was enjoyable, there’s no single element was pleasing in second half.

Coming to Antariksham, buzz was quite high on this film as well as Varun Tej was in good form with two super hits and director Sankalp Reddy’s maiden directorial Ghazi was a super hit. More importantly, Antariksham teaser and trailer got overwhelming response.

But, Antariksham disappointed as Sankalp Reddy failed to handle the subject persuasively and grippingly. Especially, romantic track was mind-numbing. The film is expected to end as biggest disaster in Varun Tej’s career.

Since Varun Tej’s last films Fidaa and Tholi Prema were big hits at overseas, Antariksham was also sold for huge price. But, the film was not impressive from premiere shows itself.

Latest outings Bluff Master and Idam Jagath too are underperforming at ticket window.
