Natasimha Nandamuri Balakrishna’s NTR biopic, mega power star Ram Charan’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama and Venkatesh, Varun Tej’s F2- Fun And Frustration are the straight Telugu films releasing for the Sankranthi.
Now, super star Rajinikanth’s Peta (Petta in Tamil) too joins the Sankranthi race. In fact, Peta was initially planned for Sankranthi. But, they at one stage thought of postponing the Telugu version to other date owing to heavy competition. Apparently, Telugu buyers have forced its makers to change their plans as not to miss biggest holiday season.
They have released posters to announce January 10th as release date of Peta. So, the Karthik Subbaraj directed film will be coming in between NTR Biopic and Vinaya Vidheya Rama. While Krish directing film is releasing on Jan 9th, Boyapati Srinu directorial will hit the screens on 11th.
Rajinikanth’s last few films including his last and much hyped film 2.0 ended as loss makers for producers and distributors. Still, Peta made a solid business of around Rs 18 cr for Telugu version.
Let’s see how tough competition will Rajinikanth’s film give to biggest attractions releasing for the festival season!
