The films which hit for Sankranthi are compared to cocks which are eager to fight their opponents. Especially, mass films that are scheduled for Sankranthi releases are considered to be real cocks with royalty.
As far as Telugu films which are slated for Sankranthi season's release are considered, Mega Power Star Ram Charan's Vinaya Vidheya Rama happens to be one and only mass film in Sankranthi race. Although Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna's NTR and Victory Venkatesh and Mega Prince Varun Tej's F2 films are onboard, they were made with contrasting genres to VVR. As such, it was thought VVR could be the one and only Sankranthi powerful 'Punju' (cock).
But then, two more mass films are also releasing for Sankranthi season. Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta (Tamil word means city) and Ajith's Viswasam are hitting screens for Sankranthi season.
Rajini's dubbed film Petta will be releasing on January 11, which is the same day VVR is releasing. However, given the poor pre release business done on Petta and there has been a big demand dubbing films are kept away from Sankranthi race, Rajini's Petta appears to be Telugu 'Petta' (kodipetta = hen). In such case, Rajini's Petta can't fight Charan's 'Punju'.
On the other hand, Ajith has no good track record and so has no good market in Tollwood recent times. Hence, his Viswasam can't be a competition for any Telugu straight film of Sankranthi season.
