Cine goers hail legends NTR and ANR as the two eyes for Tollywood. ANR ruled the industry before NTR took it by storm. After NTR, ANR had such immense stardom. King Nagarjuna took over the mantle from his dad ANR in a successful manner and even now continuing with his handsome and charming looks. He set a trend doing different genre films and stunned all from Shiva to Annamayya. Though of late he is reeling under flops, still his brand value is intact.
However the third generation from Akkineni family has been haunted by various problems. Naga Chaitanya who took over the mantle 9 years back, Sumanth and Sushanth in the middle and Akhil who took the mantle three years back, failed to make any impact at the box office. Analysts say they are failing in their judgment and selection of stories.
Though they are trying to be creative selecting different genre stories, they are not getting the desired results. At times Naga Chaitanya has taken undue risks at the start of his career and this affected him a lot. Some films failed as directors lacked clarity on how to show Chaitu on screen. Akhil too with undue delay is losing precious time doing only two films in three years.
Budget too is becoming a big problem. It is known that Chaitu and Akhil did not reach even 30 crs mark till now. However producers are investing more than their market value and this is affecting the films results. Sumanth who is in the industry for more than two decades and Sushanth too failed to make any impact affecting the Akkineni brand.
