Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and the former MLA Siveri Soma were killed by Maoists on Sunday afternoon. According to the reports, Kidari, who was elected on YSRCP ticket and joined the TDP recently, was on his way to Dumriguda when the incident took place. Soma was accompanying Kidari.
Around 40 Maoists who included a few women surrounded MLA's jeep. They grabbed MLA gunmen's guns and send them out of the spot. The Maoists interacted with Kidari and Soma for 40 minutes. Thereafter they shot Kidari and Soma to dead.
Kidari has indulged in illegal digging of bauxite ores in agency area for a long time. He was also alleged to have been supporting the TDP government in bauxite digging. He reportedly had three quarries for mining. Maoists are reported to have questioned the TDP MLA and Soma on bauxite digging issue.
Meanwhile, the MLA's supporters went on rampage and burned Arakuk and Dumriguda police stations.
