Tollywood seems to be treading in a new direction setting a new trend. Newcomers are coming with novel ideas elevating the standard of the Telugu films.

Now a days one is not getting to see films with four fights, five songs, two heroines and a villain. Not that they are coming up now and then, even when they are coming up with formulaic films, audiences are rejecting them outright.

Movie lovers are expecting the narration and screenplay to be different though the story is old. So discussion is underway whether mass films are getting outdated.

One cannot deny the power of mass movies as Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna and others attained stardom with mass films like Khaidi, Gharana Mogudu, Gang Leader, Rowdy Inspector, Lorry Driver, Samara Sima Reddy, Legend etc. Venkatesh too scored a hit with Bobbili Raja while Nagarjuna did films like Allari Alludu and Gharana Bullodu.

Even young stars are not an exemption. Jr NTR got stardom with Aadi, Simhadri while Prabhas created a sensation with Chatrapati. Mahesh had mass masala hit like Pokiri and Pawan Kalyan too couldn't avoid them. Ram Charan scored hits with mass movies like Racha, Nayak and Yevadu.

So if the filmmakers come with powerful story with mass elements and little creative narration, mass movies may make powerful comeback. Boyapati showed Allu Arjun in a powerful manner in Sarrainodu.

Though Vijay Deverakonda is setting a new trend with films like Arjun Reddy, Pelli Chupulu and Geetha Govindam, mass movies are evergreen but one should get the pulse of the movie lovers and someone like Rajamouli should come forward to show the mass power.
