Then Chiru, Now Superstar

Some combinations make people wonder. Chiranjeevi and Chandra Mohan, who shared screen presence on equal terms in the 80s, however underwent remarkable transformation as the years passed. In Iddaru Mitrulu, Chandra Mohan played the role of Chiranjeevi’s dad.

Similarly Annapurna, extremely young to Sr NTR starred as his mother. She also starred as the mother of King Nagarjuna and from then on settled in mother roles.

Star heroes have that luxury of playing the lead roles irrespective of their age while their costars will turn their fathers or elderly relatives.

Bollywood too is witnessing similar combinations. Salman Khan is starring in Bharat under the direction of Abbas Ali. In the film Jackie Shroff is playing the role of Salman’s dad. Jackie Shroff is 8yrs elder to Salman. In the 90s they locked horns competing with each other at the box office. 

Jackie is the only hero who tasted success in Bollywood donning moustache. He is currently starring in Rebel Star Prabhas’ Saaho.

The feeling of his competitor turning his dad is something couldn’t be explained and Salman is experiencing the same feeling which Chiru experienced earlier.
