Tollywood has many legends and of them singer Ghantasala, actress Bhanumati lead the list. Everyone knows that Bhanumati was egoistic and showed lot of temper on the sets in her heydays.
On one such occasion, she even insulted the great singer Ghantasala. After Malliswari songs recording, BN.Reddy listening to them along with his team, remarked to Bhanumati, "Ghantalasa sang the songs with lot of depth, expressions and emotions. You couldn’t match with him".
Bhanumati who was hurt said, "He smoke a cigar and sang and so his voice became soft". Ghantasala used to smoke cigar (chutta) to sharpen his voice before singing. Ghantasala retorted with a smile saying, "I have extra cigar. I would have given to you, if you have asked me".
Bhanumati who was peeved exacted her revenge on Ghantasala during her film Chakrapani for which she turned music director. She called Ghantasala to practice for the song 'Priyurala Javarala' and made him sing many times only to insult him. "You are not singing properly. This is not Vijaya banner. This is Bharani". Ghantasala felt extremely insulted had walked away silently.
