But then, TDP has hidden agenda for announcing tax exemptions to both GPSK and Mahanati. Now that Balakrishna being bawa of CBN, the latter had to annouce tax exemption for GPSK. On the other hand, Mahanati producer Aswini Dutt has been a staunch loyalist of TDP. It's also being rumoured that Aswini Dutt would be offered an MLA ticket for next assembly elections. Also, the producer is expected to deposit huge sum to TDP's treasury for the elections' expenses. As a result, his film might be considered for tax exemption.

In contrast, director Gunasekhar's classic historical entertainer Rudhramadevi got no such benefits from AP government. In fact, Gunasekhar pleaded the government to exempt the tax. But then, the government didn't oblige him.

According to sources, caste factors may also have played a vital role in rejecting Rudhramadevi and accepting GPSK and Mahanati for tax exemptions.
