Congress almost lost their hopes and many senior leaders in the party were promoting themselves as Chief Minister Candidate, though most of them had no idea on what to do to bring the party to the power.

By the time, the then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was betting big on then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ‘India shining’ campaign and sympathy for him after narrowly escaping a Naxalite attack at Alipiri.

Then, it was YS Rajasekhar Reddy who took the initiation and responsibility in tough times when normal public almost forgot Congress Party.

In 2003, YSR covered nearly 1500 kms in rural Andhra Pradesh to know the struggles of farmers and needy people.

After coming to power, YSR took upon himself to free power for farmers, subsidized education and health care for the poor and many other schemes.

The historic episode of YSR’s walkathon is now made as film titled Yatra with Malayalam superstar Mammootty enacting the mahanetha.

Major portions of the film will be shot in scorching summer heat. Mammotty who always gives his best for his films has told his makers that he’s ready to go any perimeters to bring authenticity in each and every frame.

As part of the story, Mammootty will certainly walk for long distances. In fact, he is needed to lose charm in his face like how YSR became slim and dark during his 60-day padayatra. Thus, the superstar who’s keeping his stardom aside for the film has decided to walk miles in summer heat.

At the end of the padayatra episode, Mammotty too is expected to appear in slim avatar.

Directed by Mahi V Raghav, Padayatra is likely to release later this year.
