People of two Telugu states Telangana and Andhra Pradesh got surprised when they found Officers at the US Consulate spoke with them in Telugu when they went for Visa and Passport processing.

As per reports, US has taken a decision to train its officials in local languages so that they will have better understanding of the people and the purpose of their visits to their country before issuing or rejecting the visa.

Consulate is recruiting people who only clear the test in the local language. They are made to watch Telugu films, classics and even learn poems.

Sharing his experience US Consulate Officer Will says, "I am the junior most here and I came to know about the greatness of Telugu language after learning small poems like 'Chandamama rave'"

Officer Kelly says, "We came to know about the culture, tradition and the behavior of the people due to the training we received in US. We were shown numerous Telugu films. However all of them are classics. The language used by people is very different. So I watch each film four to five times. My favorite star is Mahesh Babu ever since my training days.  I used to ask trainers to show me his films only."
