Did you know? Megastar Chianjeevi and legendary heroine late Sridevi were first seen together in Rani Kasula Rangamma, released in 1981. And did you also know? Sridevi wanted to bankroll a film titled Vajrala Donga with Megastar as the hero and herself as the heroine.
Then top director A Kodandaramireddy worked as a director and two songs on Chiranjeevi and Sridevi were shot. Both the songs were recorded by Bappi Lahari in Mumbai. Thereupon, the film carried humongous hype and buyers thronged to film's team with fancy offers to acquire the movie's rights.
But then, director A Kondandaramireddy was doubted with the script if would live upto the expectations or not. Also, he smelt a rat if the film would fail, it would lead heavy loss to Sridevi as a producer. When he expressed his doubts to Sridevi and Chiranjeevi on the project, after a brainstorming exercise, they let the movie shelved.
In the subsequent year, 1990, AK Reddy and Trivikrama Rao planned a film titled Kondaveeti Donga with Megastar. They thought of roping in Sridevi as a female lead. But then, the combo hadn't got materialised. Furthermore, Sridevi even denied to induct two songs shot on Chiranjeevi and on her in Kondaveeti Donga.
Finally, Megastar and Sridevi's combo was materialised in the combo of K Raghavendra Rao and Aswini Dutt's Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. Needless to say, the movie stood as one of the all time classics of Tollywood in addition to become an industry hit then.
