Sanjay Leela Bansali's historical magnum opus Padmavati has embroiled into a huge controversy. The Rajputs and BJP's activists have been making ruckus for the past few days and have demanded the film to get its release stopped.
On the other hand, Deepika Padukone, the protagonist of the film, instigated the controversy with her provoking words. Finally, the makers had to be taken aback with the protests against the film. They have officially announced the postponement of the film from December 1.
"The studio has voluntarily deferred the release date of Padmavati from December 1, 2017. Along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, amongst the most gifted film makers of his generation, Viacom18 Motion Pictures has created a beautiful cinematic masterpiece in ‘Padmavati’ that captures Rajput valor, dignity and tradition in all its glory," says the production team.
It was heard that before the film had gone for censor, the film was shown to some journos who later found out no such controversial content was depicted in the film as the agitators are worrying about.
The makers are planning to release the film on January 12, 2018. The film features Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles apart from Deepika.
